Fantastic Design at a Great Price! July 28, 2010 T. Myrick (Jacksonville, FL United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
**Note: Yes, this item DOES include the Aero Air Pump (Which works like a champ!).
This product has been designed to perfection. The packaging is nice, neat and compact. The Air valve and pump system is brilliant and flawless. Inflation is quick and pain-free. And the time it takes to deflate the mattress is almost as quick, just to make you excited to pull it out and use again ASAP.
Storage bag included as well.
Quick comment on the design of the coils and weight distribution on the mattress. It feels just like a standard well-constructed mattress. Coils distribute weight management very well so the middle of the bed doesn't collapse and push all the air to the sides. Guests will sleep like kings (or Queens!).
Go ahead. Buy it. You'll be very glad you did. A little extra money for an Aerobed Brand product is well worth the investment!
Perfect for kids July 24, 2010 traciplusthree This bed shipped quick, it is super light plus it blows up and deflates quickly. Love the fleece like texture on the sleeping side because the sheets don't shift. Works great for sleepovers.
Incorrect instructions from Aerobed July 18, 2010 Indiana Petite (South Bend, IN USA) My spouse and I have relied for years on Aerobeds with built-in pumps. But when I bought a twin-size Aerobed with separate pump for my studio apartment while on an extended business trip, I had a very unpleasant experience until my house guest showed me what I'd done wrong.
The fault lies with Aerobed's instructions for inflating the bed, which contain at least two crucial errors.
Here is what they inform us to do:
"3. Open lower protective cap on valve by turning counter-clockwise. Attach universal adapter to pump inflation port by pushing until it locks into the end. Press the smaller end of adapter into mouth of valve, then turn pump to 'on' position."
Here is what they SHOULD have told us to do:
"3. Open *upper* protective cap on valve by turning counter-clockwise. Attach *bottom adapter of three-tiered universal adapter* to pump inflation port. . ."
I hope this helps some of you out there who are as technologically challenged as I am! Shame on Aerobed for trying to save money by using the same instructions in several different models, and leaving consumers confused and upset, especially by making the return process so frustrating when in reality your own faulty instructions are to blame for the beds not working.
Aerobed twin-size July 6, 2010 L. Edwards (Pennsylvania) This was ordered to replace a twin aerobed that had gotten a hole in it. Previously, I had several aerobeds to use for guests and they all had an integrated pump - just plug it in and press a button. This twin came with a separate pump which was hard to use to get the right firmness. Also, since the pump is a separate piece, it can be separated from the mattress. The bed is nice for a twin spare, but if there is a choice, I would always buy the integrated pump.
Poor design June 29, 2010 jeff w (Chico, CA United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this bed in November, and opened it for the first time yesterday in preparation to go camping. I immediately noticed that there was not stop for air pressure to remain within the bed. So, when inflating with the pump and taking it out, about 10-20% of the air would escape. Not good for comfort or quality! I shook the bed all around for about 45 minutes and found the cheap plastic valve closer bouncing around inside. Finally, figured out how to get it out. I installed it back into the opening.
Then, I was very cautious putting the pump back in and the darn thing popped out of one of the hinges again, thus not allowing air pressure to stop leaking out. For the amount of beds, aerobed sells, I am shocked at the low quality / poor design of their most important mechanical part in the bed, the air release hinge. I bought a Coleman bed, for 1/4 the price and it is far superior in design.
Unfortunately, I waited too long to open it and now I have a $80 piece of plastic. Never will buy an Aerobed again. I think there is a reason why Walmart and other companies refuse to return airbeds after much time at all, they break!
We need a good airbed to be manufactured.
