AM I EVEN RATING THE RIGHT BED????? September 24, 2007 AR (Torrington, CT USA) 13 out of 15 found this review helpful
I was excited to get this bed, as I had read all the good reviews. I've been disappointed. The thing is, I'm not sure if the bed I'm reviewing is the bed we're looking at here. This is the bed that I ordered...it does NOT look like the bed I got. I bought from hotbargainsnow, via Amazon. What I see in the picture is a double-layered feather bed, with a down top over a box-style feather bed. What I actually GOT was just the bottom box part. The bed came rolled up and tied, and I was so excited to get it that, believe it or not, I never noticed that it was NOT as pictured. It wasn't until I set out to write this review that I saw the pic and remembered the double layer--that was why I had ordered in the first place...so it seems I never even got what I ordered! As far as what I got: the bed's shell is very thin--you can see the feathers through the fabric. Because the shell is as thin as it is, you can feel the quills inside. After a while, the quills started poking through and I started getting feathers everywhere. The bed also came with a smell. Most down products do, but usually with some airing, the smell goes away. There has been a subtle smell to this bed that has not gone away after a month now. I wrote hotbargainsnow for a refund--the first refund request I've ever made for ANYTHING I've bought through Amazon--but they refused. They offered to refund my shipping costs instead. I will NEVER do business with hotbargainsnow, and would recommend caution to all others out there as well who are considering a product from them. As for the bed, I see that Target is now the vendor selling through Amazon, and I'm guessing one would have better success getting what is actually pictured from a company like Target. Hopefully what you'll get is as comfortable as the bed in the picture looks, and not like the bed I got. If hotbargainsnow offers anything further in recompense, I will update this review.
Getting down with it June 9, 2007 J. Tortolani (SF CA) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
This down topped feather bed is so wonderful. I was having trouble sleeping on a new very firm mattress. Laying this feather bed on top of my existing mattress made all the difference! I am sleeping SO much better. It seems to me this bed helps with my circulation, especially when sleeping on my side. This bed cuddles you up and creates a veritable cloud of fluffiness under and around you. My firm mattress underneath this product provides a lot of support. The feathers and are spread evenly in the thick quilted mattress. The top layer is really soft tiny down so the feathers below don't poke at you. But those bigger feathers do keep things fluffy and thick. This mattress stays put on the bed and doesn't slide around. Works with my normal fitted sheets. The packaging recommended a mattress cover to protect it, which is a good idea. I think this product is high quality and worth the price I paid ($139).
Great featherbed July 20, 2004 Parkers Back (Ferndale, MI) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
Never had one before this one and I did some research. This one is doing a great job of keeping me comfy at night after a few months. No feathers leaking out or any other problems.
Wonderful November 19, 2003 25 out of 25 found this review helpful
I had my last featherbed for 6 years and I loved it, but when I went to get it cleaned, I get it done every three months, the cleaner told me that they should be replaced at least...at least every 2 years; dust mites get into the mattress, there is no way to avoid it. So I finally look at several and this one looked to be the best. Not only is it stuffed full of feathers it also has a quilt on top of it for better comfort and support. I have to say I slept wonderful. My other featherbed gave me comfort like this in the begining but I had forgotten how good it felt and now I remember. In two years time I will be buying another of the same. Something about the quilted layer it gives a wonderful feeling of added softness. Great buy for the money and well worth it in the long run.
